The riot of rich colour and convivial buzz of diners enjoying themselves...
...seems more akin to a hip city centre restaurant than a country house hotel. This is where locals “do lunch” and friends and families get together for a special occasion or simply for the most enjoyable of evenings out. As with all things Devonshire, the food and wines at The Brasserie beyond delicious.
The menu is popular not only for its impressive variety but also for the fact that all dishes are available as either starters or main courses at set prices. Similarly, there’s an impressive selection of wines available either by the glass or by the bottle, all at set prices.
A brilliant alternative for our hotel guests, the food and wines are simply superb and there’s the option to dine in the bar, the brasserie itself or al fresco on the terrace. You might also like to try our Dining Specials.
The views across to the dales are fabulous. As with the rooms in the hotel, the influence of the Duchess of Devonshire is very apparent in the brasserie with white Lloyd Loom furniture, bright cushions, original contemporary art, including a Howard Hodgkin, and plenty of natural light. Each year, the brasserie and bar are painted a new vibrant colour, the chairs being recovered in new startling fabrics under the personal supervision of The Duchess of Devonshire.
